The Don Bosco School, Trasi hosted Cultura – An AICS Cultural Fest on Saturday, 9th August 2025 in the School Auditorium. The event brought together eight participating Junior Colleges from across the Udupi and Mangalore region, in a celebration of varied and rich Indian heritage.
The cultural extravaganza kicked off at 9:30 am with a packed schedule of events that included a Group Dance Competition, Street Play, Ramp Walk, Poster Making, and a Quiz Competition. Each category saw enthusiastic participation, with students showcasing their skills, confidence, and creativity.
The esteemed Chief Guest of the Inaugural Ceremony, Vidushi Srikalyani Poojary emphasized that she looks forward to her visits to schools while attending cultural events no matter what her schedule is, as it is an occasion for her to relive her college life and also to encounter new ideas. She was grateful to the host college for inviting her to be the chief guest and the judge for various events. She hoped that this experience from the fest would foster in the students a stronger friendship.
A total of 138 participants competed across the various events, making the fest a colourful and dynamic gathering of young talent. The audience was treated to energetic traditional dance performances, appreciating our culture through street plays, creative poster displays, and a fiercely contested quiz battle that tested knowledge and quick thinking. All the events were meticulously evaluated by the jury comprising of experts from the respective arena.
In the Valedictory Program the Chief Guest, Mr. Smithesh S. Barya was highly appreciative of the school’s time management and also the choice of events. He was happy that the theme CULTURA was the name taken as it made the students to appreciate their roots. He accentuated the fact that, no matter how technological advancement happens, we must not forget our roots.
The event concluded with a solemn Award Ceremony where Mount Carmel School, Mangalore was declared the overall champion, earning the top honors for their outstanding performances across multiple events. Madhav Kripa School, Udupi secured the runner-up position, putting up a commendable show throughout the day.
Cultura not only provided a platform for students to express their artistic and intellectual capabilities but also fostered camaraderie and healthy competition among the schools. The event was a grand success, leaving both participants and the audience inspired and looking forward to more such cultural celebrations in the future.
