The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated in a solemn manner at Don Bosco School, Trasi on 15th August 2025, reflecting deep respect and pride for the nation. The ceremony commenced at 9:00 am at the school entrance, where the National Flag was hoisted by our esteemed Chief Guest, Subedar Major Mr. Shamkanth S. Nagekar, Junior Engineer, ICS, Indian Army. The flag hoisting was accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem, evoking a strong sense of patriotism among all present.
The atmosphere was filled with reverence as staff, students, and guests gathered to pay homage to the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. The students presented their terrific March Past, irrespective of the showers of rain, indicating their strong determination and team power. The students also shared the significance of the day with their speeches and patriotic songs.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech that highlighted the importance of national unity, discipline, and the role of youth in shaping the future of India and also expressed his dream of India becoming the best Nation in the world. He sang a song to evoke in everyone a sense of peace and divinity.
Following the flag hoisting, the cultural programme began at 11:00 am in the School Auditorium, showcasing the patriotic spirit of the students. The programme included patriotic dances and a mime show performed by the students, creatively expressing their love for the nation and honoring its journey to freedom. Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause and appreciation.
The Chief Guest for the cultural programme was Mr. Santosh Kumar Shetty, Ex- Serviceman, Foreman of Signals, Indian Army. The Chief Guest appreciated the school for the patriotic celebration of our India’s Independence. He encouraged the students to do their duties faithfully as part of their contribution in protecting our nation like the soldiers in the border. “Everyone has their roles to play, only then a nation stands protected and safe”, he added. He encouraged the students to obey their elders, especially their parents and teachers, as they always speak or act towards the wellness of their children.
The Rector and Principal, Fr. Maxim D’Souza appreciated the teachers and students for presenting unique performances. He highlighted that it’s not easy to get two Army Officers for an event, and it was a privilege hosting two Ex- Army officers on the occasion in our school. He motivated the students to take inspiration from these officials and other soldiers, who irrespective of the hardships stand tall at our country’s borders to keep us safe.
The celebrations were conducted in a truly dignified manner, keeping the significance of the day in mind. The spirit of patriotism and national pride was clearly evident in every aspect of the programme, making the Independence Day celebration at Don Bosco School, Trasi a truly memorable and inspiring event. After the event everyone went home relishing tasty snacks.
