An occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person’s life with opportunities for progress is called Career. Career decision making process is a life-changing event in a person’s life. This process requires the individual to think carefully about their interests, talents, abilities, values and passion. But, as difficult as it is to make a career choice, it is even more challenging to stay and maintain the career chosen. To enjoy the career built from scratch, to learn and develop, there are certain vital skills that needs to be practiced to grow in personal and professional life.

To explore these skills and invoke the most essential skills in the success of any career chosen, the students need to be aware of their skills and learn to apply them at the times of need. With the objective of assisting the students in exploring the leader within them, the Department of Wellness at Don Bosco School, Trasi organized a session on the theme “Unleash the Leader Within” as part of the Career Guidance Program in the School Auditorium. The students of Junior College collaborated in the organization of this session on 28th July 2025, under the guidance of Mrs. Rakshitha N.J, Head of the Department, Department of Wellness.

Mr. Kiran Christopher Saldanha, Area Manager at Baden Aniline and Soda Factory (BASF), Huntsville, Alabama, an experienced facilitator from the field was the resource person. The session comprised of students from Classes IX to XII. The experienced speaker enlightened the students about the importance of making an informed career choice and how the students of current generation are lucky to have been given an option to make their choice for themselves, unlike the previous generations who had to choose what their parents offered. He added,“while it is important to make an informed career choice, information for which can be found across all the digital mode, the success in any career path is determined by the leadership skills we develop and apply”. He shared his personal journey of stagnant work life to challenging work life that led him to become a leader and has helped him achieve his current position. He provoked the students to reflect within themselves and demonstrated the importance of leadership skill in a team and in a person’s life through activities. He shared the role of a leader and how to enhance these leadership skills among the students.The session ended with a note of motivation.

Fr. Maxim D’Souza, the Principal addressed the students with his inspiring presidential address. He encouraged the students to take inspiration from the resource person and explore the leader within oneself and maybe work in places like Alabama. He also shared some of the examples of the alumni who completed their Junior College from Don Bosco School, Trasi, who are now eloquent speaker, initiators in their graduation colleges and are confident in each task presented to them. And all of this has been possible for them now, as they utilized the opportunities presented to them during their schooling days in Don Bosco School, Trasi. They are trained to be leaders and are pushed out of their comfort zones to explore their potential, as was seen in case of recently held ‘Explorica 2k25- a Junior College Fest’ organized in the school campus. He highlighted the benefits of CBSE board of education once again which helps students do exponentially well in their academics and career. He concluded his address by sharing the importance of Career Guidance Program in school, and appreciated the resource person and the organizing team for the successful completion of the program. The students actively participated in the session.
