To celebrate the theme of the year “Family” and to emphasize the importance of grandparents in our family, our school organized Grand Parents day on 21st July 2018. The grandparents of our school students were invited for the program. Mr. Alban Rodrigues, the retired Principal of St. Mary’s P.U. College, Shirva was the chief guest of this special program. After the prayer song & the words of welcome, a colorful cultural program was put up by the students to entertain their grandparents. Mr. Alban in his speech encouraged the gran dparents to use all their energies to look after themselves and the grand children. He highlighted various aspects and stages of life and how we need to deal with them in a graceful manner. He said, “Growing gracefully old and keeping oneself fit is one own responsibility. Each one holds a great heritage which is of immense and we need to make it known through our life.” “ Don't stop working, work as long as you can". "We should not isolate ourselves and live in loneliness, but we are called to do the walking and talking in the lives of our grand children". Among the many things he encouraged regular prayer and exercise as part of one’s daily routine and the same to be inculcated in the lives of the grandchildren. "Teach them to pray and they will learn to face life". Later during the function Mr. Joseph Goveas, our cook, was felicitated for his services in Don Bosco. Fr. Maxim D'souza, the Principal of the school then addressed the gathering recalling those memorable days that he spent with his grandparents and asked the children to learn from their example and to take special care of them. He later thanked them for their presence and for all the children who came with them. This joy was extended with a family meal. "Indeed a memorable day " as many expressed as they left the campus
